Salt dough is easy to make with three simple ingredients, flour, salt, and water. We love to create buttons, animals, houses, hand prints, hanging ornaments, etc. You can use cookie cutters to make fun shapes and turn them into whatever form you’d like. Once your creations are finished, you can bake them in the oven at a low temperature. When the dough gets hard enough, you can paint and decorate them as you like.

Add water gradually and keep stirring.

When the dough is too wet and sticky, add more flour gradually, one tablespoon at a time.
If it’s too hard, add a little water (about one tablespoon at a time).
If it’s too hard, add a little water (about one tablespoon at a time).
Knead the dough for a few minutes until it’s soft and smooth.
Place the parchment paper on your work pace and roll out the dough to about ¼ -½ inches thick.
Don’t roll the dough very thin to avoid bubbles-air while baking.
When the dough is ready, you can create hand prints, flowers, animals, etc. Anything that you want.
Once you are ready, preheat the oven to 250 degrees F.
Bake for 2-3 hours, checking it at every 20 minutes interval until just firm to touch.
Remove from oven and let it cool.
Now you can paint it, and if you want, seal it with Mod Podge once it gets dry.
NOTE:
- Different types of flour can take different amounts of liquid. It means the amount of liquid you need for a recipe can vary depending on the type of flour you use.
- If your craft still feels soft, you must bake for extra time. It needs to be firm to touch.
